Discovery Summer Camps
App Adventures helps participants in their quest to make the next viral app. Whether they want to move past the basic techniques learned in “App Attack!” (another GC summer camp described next) or want to jump right in, all students choose from a selection of different mobile app types and explore more in-depth programming concepts.
App Attack!” leads campers on their first steps into the world of mobile app design and helps them customize their own game app. Using a specialized app and game development tool, students explore the world of web-based apps. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and game development, they also see firsthand how the world of app publishing functions
“Bones & Blood: A Healthcare Experience” exposes campers to careers in the health science profession such as nursing, medical laboratory technology, dental assisting and radiology. They learn how to take blood pressure, vital signs, and more
“Digital Storytellers” appeals to those who want to tell a story. From the Hunger Games to Harry Potter, everyone loves a great story. Whether students want to rewrite the ending to Star Wars, add themselves to a Divergent tale, or create a new adventure about their friends, this class shows them anything is possible.
“Grayson Crime Scene Investigation” puts campers into the shoes of a crime scene investigator. They learn to process a crime scene by working hands-on to gather evidence. Working together as a Crime Scene Unit, they take crime scene photographs, search for evidence, and start a case file to keep track of the evidence throughout the week

“LEGO Video Games” combines two favorite activities: LEGOs and video games. Campers create their own LEGO universe, characters, and adventures in an interactive 2-D video game. At the end of the camp, students have a finished LEGO video game that can be shared with friends and family through a password-protected website
LEGO YOUniverse: Make Your Own Adventure!” teaches campers how to create a digital illustrated story whether they pick their favorite LEGO genre or create an alternate universe.
“MAD Science” calls all mad scientists to Step inside the lab and experience science right in front of their eyes. Students learn about chemical reactions they might encounter in their daily lives as well as the properties of chemistry through experiments they can perform at home.
“Make Your First 3-D Video Game” allows campers to develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2-D game design classes. Students learn the physics behind 3-D games, explore beginner event scripting, level design, controlling flow of gameplay, and storytelling.
Make Your First Video Game summer camp teaches campers how to make their first video game in this one-of-a-kind class that shows them the keys to designing a 2-D game. Conceptualization, play experience, challenge levels, graphics, sounds, and simple coding are just some of the concepts they explore
Minecraft Designers summer camp is designed for campers who love the game Minecraft and want to design their own characters and buildings for their games
“Minecraft Modders” shows campers how to use their favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. They learn scripting and logic statements as they create their first mod. Introductory coding is taught through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft.
