Sherman Symphony Orchestra

The Sherman Symphony Orchestra launches it’s 2023-2024 season under the direction of Daniel Dominick.  Performances are held in the Kidd-Key Auditorium in downtown Sherman, TX.  The Christmas Pops is held in the Sid Richardson Center on the Austin College Campus in Sherman.

The Sherman Symphony Orchestra Association (SSOA) has hired its first-ever full-time Executive Director!  “This is a big step in the natural evolution of our organization,” says Music Director Daniel Dominick.  “Having an Executive Director positions us to lead in a time for historic growth in Sherman and north Texas.  We are excited to welcome Aaron Bucy to the SSOA and look for great things to come with his leadership and experience.”

Daniel L. Dominick has been Music Director and Conductor of the Sherman Symphony Orchestra since 1992.  A versatile conductor with an international conducting career, including concerts in the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Poland, he also maintains a busy conducting schedule in north Texas,  recently taking the SSO to Greenville, Ardmore, and Denison and directing a month of performances of Chicago and a month of performances of Annie Get Your Gun in Sherman’s regional theater (SCP).

Under Maestro Dominick the SSO has begun regular broadcasts of the orchestra’s concerts on CBS-12.  Most programs include lively description of the music and composers and focus on one or two pieces in a thirty minute format.  These programs have introduced the SSO to a broad new audience of north Texas and southern Oklahoma viewers.

Kidd-Key Auditorium, located near downtown Sherman, TX, is the home of the Sherman Symphony Orchestra.  Extensive restoration and renovation of this beautiful concert hall was undertaken by the City of Sherman with generous support from Austin College, and has returned the historical significance of the building and remade it into an exceptional venue for major performances.  Constructed in 1938 and seating more than 1300, the Art Deco hall has proven to possess amazing acoustics for orchestral performances.  Every seat affords the concertgoer excellent sound and a great view.
