Magnolia Festival

The Magnolia Festival of Oklahoma has been held since 1997 in Durant and promises plenty of family fun throughout its three-day span. The event is hosted at the Choctaw Event Center in Durant beginning the Thursday following Memorial Day. The 2017 festival celebrates its 21st year – June 1-3 with the Carnival opening a night early on May 31.

Vendors ranging from information booths to unique arts and crafts will line the floor of the Choctaw Event Center. Activities include an Art Show, the Choctaw Nation Princess Pageant, Choctaw Dancers and the Magnolia Theatre featuring family-friendly entertainment. The Magnolia Festival also includes activities like an outdoor carnival, 5k run, free children’s activities, fireworks, Durant Rotary bike tour, the annual Durant Riding Club Magnolia Rodeo taking place May 26-27, 2017. CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES

Join in on our FREE and FUN children’s activities on Saturday, June 3 in the outdoor tent at Choctaw Event Center. Activities include wipeout inflatable course, magician, dunk booth and much more for youngsters to participate in. Largest Turtle Races in Oklahoma begin at 1:30 p.m.

Outside of the Event Center, ride the Ferris wheel and bring the kids to enjoy carnival rides, games, yummy fair food, pony rides and fireworks on opening night. Head inside the Event Center to enjoy the craft and food booths, exhibitor displays, and the Texoma Arts Association art show. The Event Center will also include the Magnolia Theater, featuring around-the-clock, free, family friendly entertainment. There is also plenty of free children’s events like crafts, turtle races and more.

The Magnolia Festival hosts variety of other activities happening throughout the community including a large parade and 5K run in Downtown Durant, veterans’ reception, Durant Rotary bike ride, golf tournament and the annual Durant Riding Club Magnolia Rodeo at the Bryan County Fairgrounds. And don’t miss the live music at Gilley’s inside the Choctaw Casino on Friday and Saturday nights.

As headquarters of the Choctaw Nation, the Magnolia Festival will also showcase the history and folklore of their heritage with Choctaw dancers and a Choctaw Princess Pageant.

Downtown Durant Main Street Christmas Parade

Durant Area Chamber of Commerce invites Durant area businesses, individuals and organizations to be a part of the 2016 Christmas Parade on Tuesday, Dec. 6 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Get your entry together to be in the parade to take part by strolling downtown to watch this annual holiday event. The parade begins at 12th and Main and continues east down Main Street to 1st Street. This year’s Christmas Parade theme is “A Hometown Holiday”.
