July 31, 2026 – Striper are continuing to make their early morning runs either on flats in 30-40ft of water or in the open deep-water areas 50-7-ft of water. Live bait and slabs staying with these fast-moving groups are both continuing to produce fish. Keep an eye out for the thermocline in deep water and big birds working. Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation | Lake Texoma Fishing Report | August 19, 2026
Elevation is normal and stable, water temperature 85°F and clear. Striped bass fair on live shad, sassy shad, and slabs around channels, main lake, points, and river channel. Blue, channel, and flathead catfish fair on cut bait, dough bait, live shad, and punch bait below the dam, docks, river channel, and river mouth. Crappie fair on caddis flies, hair jigs, jigs, minnows, and nymphs around brush structure, coves, docks, rocks, and standing timber. Fishing this week has been okay. Striper are being caught on live shad and trolling sassy shad between the Roosevelt and railroad bridge, as well as near Washita Point and the islands. Catfish are being caught near baited holes and cleaning stations with punch bait and cut bait. Crappie are being caught around bridges with brush and round docks with brush piles. Bighead and silver carp were first brought to the U.S. in 1973 and have since overtaken many Mississippi River drainage waterways. Anglers can help protect Lake Texoma waters from invasive species by not releasing carp back into the water and reporting bighead and silver carp catches to the Oklahoma Wildlife Department or the Texas Wildlife Department.

A new lake record White Bass has been caught at Lake Texoma
A new lake record white bass was caught at Lake Texoma by Kylee Miller of Erick on August 4, 2017. The record fish weighed in at 3.75 pounds with a length of 18 inches and girth of 13.5 inches.
A new lake record striper has been caught on Lake Texoma
Barbara Pope caught this 24.7 pound striped bass from Lake Texoma last Thursday. Barbara was fishing with striper guide Chris Carey. While heavier striped bass have been caught in previous years at Texoma, this fish represents the largest striped bass submitted to the Oklahoma Lake Records Program since its inception in 2008.
