The Sherman Museum in downtown Sherman Texas

The Sherman Museum is a non-profit 501(c) (3) educational organization devoted to collecting, preserving and interpreting objects of historical significance to Grayson County and the Greater North Texas Region.

The Sherman Museum is located in the historic Carnegie Library building in downtown Sherman Texas. The museum was founded in 1976 by a group of civic-minded citizens who were concerned about losing the heritage of the area.   Education and outreach programs began in the late 1980’s when the first experienced museum personnel were hired.

Today the Sherman Museum has off-site exhibits, children’s workshops, traveling exhibits all of which are available to schools, clubs and organizations. This allows the museum to reach a greater number of people in the community.

The Sherman Museum’s Research Room provides a selection of books, research files, photograph collection, and copies of the Oral History Program recordings and transcripts.
