Adjacent to Big Mineral Camp, the Big Mineral Equestrian and Hiking Trails were cleared 20 years ago and have grown up over the years. Volunteers maintain the area which is a very popular equestrian trail. The Corps of Engineers provide materials but riders and locals handle most of the cleanup.
You can ride through trees and creeks and along the shoreline of Lake Texoma. There are two trails, Brushy Creek and Walnut Creek, with a total of 15 miles.
The campground is tables only. It is a very primitive camp with very few if any amenities except those that are offered by nature. The best times to visit are spring, winter and fall.
