Since 1966, the Boys & Girls Club has provided thousands of area youth a positive, supervised place to participate in after school and summer activities.
Membership is open to boys and girls ages 5-18. Club members must at least be in kindergarten and pay member fees to participate in Club programs.
Children come to the Boys & Girls Club for many reasons. Whether it is the educational tutoring, the large games room and craft activities, the PGA Golf Academy and other fitness programs, or just to make new friends, the Boys & Girls Club has something for you.
The Sherman Boys & Girls Club, formerly the Sherman Boys Club, first opened its doors in 1966 as part of an effort by local business people to provide services to disadvantaged youth. After several moves, it became apparent to the board of directors that a permanent facility was desperately needed. In 1974, the Sherman Boys Club entered into an agreement with Austin College and in 1975, we opened our doors for business at its current location, 1500 N. Luckett.
In 1997, an ambitious capital campaign was initiated and in 2000, the 10,400 square foot addition was completed. The Club continues to grow as it provides essential programs and services to hundreds of area youth.
