Corps of Engineers Report 1-20-2016

The Corps is in the drawdown phase of the seasonal pool plan which targets 615
feet by the middle of February. Water levels in Lake Texoma are subject, in
part, to releases from the reservoir and precipitation in the watershed
above Denison Dam.U.S. Army Corps of Engineers update

The Cumberland levees were constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to protect a historic oil and gas exploration and production area known as the Cumberland Field from flooding. The constructed Cumberland Cut now carries Washita River flows around the Cumberland Field and into Lake Texoma. The original river channel and its SH199 bridge crossing remains in the protected area.

The north Cumberland Levee breached during the record-setting flood of 2015. Flood waters from the Washita River then flowed into the area behind the levee. These waters quickly inundated the old Washita River and a portion of SH199 making the roadway impassable by motorists. One of the Corp’s primary missions is to repair the breach at the north Cumberland levee. While these efforts are ongoing the oil and gas company operating in the Cumberland Field is working hard to dewater the area using pumps. This process will take time to complete and the speed of the water level drop depends in large part on Mother Nature. Once the SH199 roadway and bridge are dewatered the Oklahoma Department of Transportation will work to ensure the roadway is safe so that traffic flow across the Washita River can be restored.

Repair work on the Cumberland Levee remains one of our top priorities. Due to recent rainfall, we’ve been working around the clock to boost the elevation of a temporary cofferdam being constructed there as part of the overall repair project. Our ultimate goal is to return the levee to its pre-flood elevation.

Thanks again to everyone for all their hard work during these challenging weather conditions!

We are expecting to have power restored to boathouse 9 and the walkway to be passable by tomorrow (Friday). The walkway to boathouses 30, 31, 32 and 35 has been repaired this week. We do ask that you walk down and wait until further notice before driving golf carts down. We need to further inspect the walkway supports that are still partially submerged. This means that by tomorrow 100% of all the boathouse walkways and power has been restored in the Marina.

Our boat ramp is closed but we work with our customers and help them launch their boats on a few different roads in our resort. We do have 100% gas at our gas dock/ships store on the water and of course we also have 100% gas at our ships store on land. We have added RV camping facilities with 30 and 50amp electric service, water and even sewer hook ups! Our cabins are open and YES we are pet friendly! Our restaurant is closed, will reopen in the spring, we do offer a good selection of sandwiches, snacks and assorted drinks in our ships store! Pontoon Boat Rentals now available. We are now accepting camping and family reunion reservations on our web site for the year of 2016: bridgeviewmarinaandresort.com.

Most important of all: Lake Texoma is here, a little bigger, a little deeper and much more beautiful! Have you ever seen the sunrise or sunset from the shores or on the water at Bridgeview Marina and Resort?

Grandpappy Resort Marina 1-8-2016
The current lake status report from the USACE states that the water is receding slowly. As the water recedes we will energize boathouses 9, 18, 19, 20 & 34 as soon as we can and as Oncor allows. The Lake goes down slowly so this could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Currently there is still no power to boathouses 9, 18, 19, 20 & 34. It is expected that boathouse 34 will be energized first followed by 18 – 20 and then 9.

Little Mineral Marina 1-8-2016
Lake level 627.96, we have several walk ways to boathouses under water but our shuttle is running (don’t be in a hurry). Electric is on to all boathouses. Spring is coming.

Corps of Engineers 1-8-2016.

The reservoir surface elevation should begin falling today and is forecasted reach 626 feet on January 13, 2016. This prediction is based on refined model inputs from the Lake Texoma watershed and the strategic water release plan that is being implemented. Water levels in Lake Texoma are subject, in part, to releases from the reservoir and precipitation in the watershed above Denison Dam.

A release is being made through both hydropower generators at 9,300 cfs total.A release through two flood conduits is being made at 15,500 cfs (total). No release is being made over the spillway. The last spillway release occurred at 1000 hours on July 1, 2015.

The aggregate release from Lake Texoma, including the hydropower generators, flood conduits, and spillway, is 24,800 cfs.

Combined flow from the Washita (at Durwood, OK) and Red (at Gainesville, TX)
rivers is about 5,872 cfs. Flow at both stations is decreasing. Total
inflow is equalizing with outflow at Lake Texoma resulting in a steady pool.

Cedar Bayou Marina 1-7-2016
All roads to Cedar Bayou Marina are passable. Unfortunately the boat ramp is underwater/closed. All boathouses are intact and walkways from land are open. Cabins, motels, gas dock/on the water office are all open. Thank you so much for all you do for Lake Texoma. Publisher note: You are most welcome!

The power is currently off to boathouses 9, 18 thru 20 & 34. We have had to cable a few of the Boathouses together. Boathouse 2 is cabled to Boathouse 3 and 3 has been cabled to Boathouse 4. This will affect the right side of Boathouse 2, all of 3 and the left side of Boathouse 4. We apologize for the inconvenience but it is necessary to keep the Boathouses and your boats safe, secured and anchored properly.

All of the walkways are underwater, if you need a shuttle out to your Boathouse please call the security number (903)814-6706. We are currently shuttling customers from a platform located between Boathouses 6 & 7.

At this time, all roads around the marina have low spots that are completely covered in water. For your safety, NO docks are accessible by land at this time, but ALL docks are accessible via our Water Taxi!

Accessing the Water Taxi:
– During business hours, call the Fuel Dock at 903-786-8365
– After 5:00 pm, call Courtesy Patrol at 903-814-4300

Our intent is to keep winter water accessible. If at any time our meter indicates a possible line break and/or leak, we will advise the affected membership by email and phone that water is being shut off. Please keep in mind that we will continue to have fresh water available at the Fuel Dock.

And great news – we do not foresee any loss of electricity at this time!

And finally – remember that Mo’s is open and keeping regular business hours Friday through Sunday! Come by and see us on your way to the Water Taxi! We’d love to see you!

The rising of the lake has started to slow down, having only increased approximately 2 inches in elevation since 1 a.m. this morning. We are hoping that it should crest soon and begin receding. The current lake level is 627.25 and they are releasing 2500 cubic feet per second through the dam at this time. Due to the power being shut off to Boathouses 18 through 20 Grandpappy’s internet and email is temporarily down. We hope to have this resolved sometime tomorrow. MARINA UPDATE: As of today 1/2/16, there is no driving access to BH 6-11 due to water covering road in front of shop, BH 3 & 4 walkways are under water and BH 24 & 27 walkways will be under by end of day today. South cove road is still open but limited driving access due to road construction and high water. Boaters in BH 21-28 can park and walk from either BH 29 or by fishing pier. A limited shuttle will be running during business hours but we will need an ETA so please call ahead of time. BH 12 & 14 walkway does have a little water at the edge of walkway but is still passable. At this time we do not have concerns about turning electricity off but that could change depending on the predictions from the Corps. FUEL will be shut off to the gas dock today as we prepare for possible higher water levels. If you have any concerns or questions please give us a call at the office 903-463-3999.

Because of the rising water we could lose access to boathouse walk-ways as well as have power disconnected at various boathouses. As a result of the rising water we have already terminated the power to boathouse 9. Though it is unlikely, the power to boathouses 14-20 could be terminated at Oncor’s discretion when the road to the east side of the marina becomes impassable. Power to boathouses 30-32 could be terminated due to the location of its disconnect panel and meter but it too is unlikely.

At this point all power to all boathouses are still on, the water is once again in the parking lot and over the walkway to boat houses 7, 8 & 9.

The USACE is not releasing any water yet so it will be very close…. we will keep everyone updated and if the power is shut off then we will call in the troops and we will be all hands on deck once again.

Shuttle service will be available from 9 AM Thursday, the 31st and we will pick up down by the shop. The good new is there is no more rain in the forecast until next week and, God willing, the gates will start flowing and we can reclaim the parking lot & walkways.

Grandpappy Point Marina 12-28-2015

The walkway and electrical box to Boathouse 9 are under water and as a result the power to boat house 9 is off. The road on the east side may become inaccessible if the water rises to the Corps predicted level of 624.9′.

As a reminder, the water is turned off to all Boathouses. The fuel dock has winter water located in the first courtesy slip attached to the dock. Our tenants are welcome to use it if they are in need of fresh water, although, we ask that you please disconnect the hose when you are finished.

Highport Marina 12-28-2015

We are taking the following proactive steps to ensure access and safety for all members and customers:

  • Within the next 24-48 hours, the following gangways may be under water and not accessible: J, ZE and ZF. Water Taxi service can be accessed at the Fuel Dock.
  • The septic tanks on K, L, M, ZF and Puerto del Sol have been emptied and we ask that they not be used until water levels recede back below 619′.
  • We are actively watching Y dock as water levels rise. Due to the location of its power box, power may need to be shut off for this dock. We will notify those members affected when we know more.

Marina Updates & Conditions 12/4/15:

Great News! Due to the warmer weather we have postponed turning the water off to the Boathouses this week. Although the lake hasn’t officially crested, with the amount of inflow versus the release we do not expect it to rise any further than its current level of 623.14’. There are no roads within the marina that are under water or inaccessible. However, the walkway to Boathouse 9 is under water. We have had to turn off the electric and water to Boathouse 9. Unfortunately, Boathouses 18, 19 & 20 are tied into the same water line and they too are without water. For all other Boathouse, we will postpone turning off the water until next week.

We encourage our customers to come out and enjoy the beautiful weekend! The fall colors make for a very scenic boat ride. Our fuel dock will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 9-5pm. It may be the last chance to wash your boat and give it some love before winter sets in. We look forward to seeing all of you!

Cedar Mills Resort Marina 12-2-2015

Please be aware that the road between Service and the north end of the Marina is under construction. The work will be completed in phases so the road should remain accessible during the repairs. We have several walkways underwater; however, they will be accessible by tomorrow. The water has been shut-off on the docks but we will have it up and running again as the lake goes down and temperatures remain mild. The travel-lift ways are not useable at this time.

There has been considerable construction progress made on the Lodge/Special Events Center and Pelican’s Landing Restaurant. The Lodge is in its final stages and should be complete before the Christmas holidays. Numerous contractors are working on Pelican’s Landing and it is coming together nicely. We will keep you updated as the opening date grows nearer.

Engineers on-site determined overnight that the river crested about 3:30 a.m., with the newly constructed windrows on the cofferdam performing as designed. Water has started to recede and river levels will continue to move lower in the coming days.

Mill Creek Resort Marina 12-2-2015 | 10:45 AM

Water has been turned off to boathouses 1 to 7. Water is still available on gas dock and on boathouse 8.

Highport Marina 12-2-2015 | 8 AM

We are taking the following proactive steps to ensure access and safety for all members and customers:
• Beginning today, the water taxi will be available for access to the following gangways which will be under water and not accessible: J, ZE and Puerto del Sol.
• The septic tanks on K, L, M, ZF and Puerto del Sol are currently not usable and we are having them emptied.
• We are actively watching Y dock as water levels rise. Due to the location of its power box, power may need to be shut off for this dock. We will notify those members affected when we know more.

Grandpappy Marina 12-1-2015 | Evening Update

Unfortunately the lake level is once again on the rise. Due to the large amount of rain we received during the holiday weekend, the lake has come up almost 6’. As of 2:00 pm today the lake level was 622.05’. The latest prediction from the Corp of Engineers is that the lake level will be at 624’ by December 5th, however, it is expected to recede as there is no rain in the short term forecast and flood gates will increase as down river channel capacities allow.

We expect the walkway and electrical box to Boathouse 9 to be under water by the end of today. This will affect our travelift and bridge. We estimate that today will be the last day we can pull boats until the water recedes. The road on the east side may become inaccessible if the water was to rise above the Corps predicted crest of 624’.

As a reminder, the water will be turned off to all Boathouses this week. The fuel dock will have winter water located in the first courtesy slip attached to the dock.

Corps of Engineers 12-1-2015 | Evening update

FLOOD UPDATE: With waters from the Washita River gently rising in the Cumberland Levee area, our engineers and contractors began working today to reinforce the current windrow on top of the cofferdam that is currently under construction. The reinforced windrow is fully expected to hold back the overflow water from the Washita River.

We currently have a team of highly skilled engineers on site, and they will work through the night monitoring the river levels and will continue to monitor the situation until the water begins to recede.

Restoring the Cumberland Levee to its pre-flood condition continues to be a top priority for the Tulsa District.

Corps of Engineers 12-1-2015 | Afternoon update

Current release of 7,500 cubic feet per second flows out of the dam, with more water scheduled for release later this morning.

Several days of persistent rain raised water levels throughout much of the Tulsa District, and brought Lake Texoma water levels to 621.81 which is above normal conservation pool level of 617.

Tulsa District engineers and Lake Texoma staff are monitoring in flow and working to restore the lake to its normal operating level.

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge 12-1-2015

Wildlife Drive is closed until the level of Lake Texoma drops below 620; and the road has time to dry and the debris has been removed.

Elevation = 620.89 feet and rising

Power Generation = 0 cubic feet per second (cfs) Release from Flood Control Conduits = 2,570 cfs Spillway Release = 0 cfs Total Release = 2,570 cfs Combined flow of Washita (at Durwood) and Red (at Gainesville) rivers = 37,356 cfs

Current elevation of Lake Texoma is 620.89 feet and rising. It is forecasted that the pool will rise to 624.1 by 5 December. The water elevation is subject to scheduled releases and precipitation in the watershed above Denison Dam.

There are no releases being made through the hydropower generators.

A release through one flood conduit is being made at 2,570 cfs.

The last release over the spillway occurred at 1000 hours on 1 July 2015.

The aggregate release from Lake Texoma, including the spillway, hydropower generators, and flood conduits, is about 2,570 cfs.

Combined flow from the Washita (at Durwood, OK) and Red (at Gainesville, TX) rivers is about 37,356 cfs and slowly rising. Inflow is currently exceeding outflow resulting in the Lake Texoma pool rise.

Releases from Lake Texoma will be increased as receding flood waters in the lower Red River below Denison Dam create additional channel capacity. This release increase will be in accordance with a temporary deviation from the seasonal pool plan from which we typically operate. The deviation dictates that the Lake Texoma pool will be held to a maximum of 617 feet to support repairs of the north Cumberland levee that breached during the record-setting floods of June 2015. Reservoir operations in support of the deviation are subject to river stage conditions at Arthur City and DeKalb, Texas, and the condition of other reservoirs in the lower Red River basin. Floodwaters in the downstream system are the reason for the minor release that is now occurring and the pool rise above 617 feet that is currently being observed.

Current conditions of Lake Texoma may be found at:

http://www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/DENI.lakepage.html

Current conditions for the Red River basin may be found at: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/abrfc/ Corps-operated park and facility access impacts may be found at: http://www.swt.usace.army.mil/Locations/TulsaDistrictLakes/Oklahoma/LakeTexoma/ProjectNewsandNotices.aspx

We will continue to provide periodic updates as appropriate.

Platter Flats

Had a great bunch of volunteers this weekend at Platter Flats We managed to get all the trails opened up at the Platter side although we had to reroute a couple of places but nothing to serious and on Sunday a few of us went to Rock Creek and the trail looks ok except for a little bit of trimming needed and a lot of trash to pick up. Again a great turnout and a big thank you to all who helped get the trails up and running again for the enjoyment of all who use them. Will check out the Lakeside end of the trail system and let you know what i find and keep you updated. Happy trails to all.

Platter Flats Clean Up Day Set

Finally, after all that rain and the months of waiting for the water to go down and then dry out I have set a clean up date for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of October. I’m giving the rangers time to check out the water and electricity for the comfort of those who will be staying overnight. don’t think there is too much to be done, a few trees to move off the trail and I will be checking out the soft bits and see if we have to bypass by moving trails slightly. Some places are close to private land so we have to be careful how far we go. So mark your calendars and come and help so that we can make the trails safe for eveyone.

Electric and water should be on but i will be checking with the core on Monday to verify these things. Corals will be available on a first come first serve basis. I will be having a meeting at 9.00am on Frid and Sat.and Sun. to figure out who wants to do what and where.

Good news from Alberta Creek Resort Marina:

Tear down and reconstruction has begun!! We are still working with our insurance adjusters to tweak our final numbers.

We are confident that by the time we get this place put back together it will be better than ever! Our goal is to be open and running before Memorial Day of 2016.

There is so much to be done that it kind of boggles the mind because of all the little steps that have to be taken along the way. This has been a very difficult summer and will prove to be difficult through the winter but we look forward to the outcome!

If we can assist you in any way please let us know and we will keep you posted as events unfold

The only Boathouse still without accessibility or utilities is 33; however, we will begin repairs tomorrow and continue until all services are restored for our tenants.

Big Mineral Equestrian Trails

Trails are almost dry, one swampy area will take a while to dry out, another week and trails should be good for riding. Volunteers have done a great job in cleaning debris off trails. Still a few trees down across trails but can ride around them.

The High Water Café will have extended hours for the holiday weekend:

Friday 11:00 am – 9:00 pm

Saturday 8:30 am – midnight

Sunday 8:30 am – 9:00 pm

Safety Update:

o DO NOT — USE THE GANGWAYS to docks that are still under repair. It is a significant safety issue to put makeshift walkways on the gangways to access the docks. The water taxi is available 24/7. We cannot stress enough how important your safety is to us – so please DO NOT use those gangways until they are completely repaired.

Thanks everyone, we’ll see you at the lake!

Grandpappy Marina

As of today the power has been restored to Boathouse 10. We are setting Boathouse 9 and should have power restored tomorrow barring no issues.

The Gas Dock is officially back online. We have unleaded, diesel, pumpouts and water. We will also have beer, ice and merchandise deliveries before the weekend. Although we have most of our courtesy slips accessible there a couple of them that will be closed due to safety hazards.

Water is on to all Boathouses except 35. All walkways are accessible except 33 & 35. The repairs to the walkway to Boathouses 3 & 4 have been completed and are now safe to use. Caution is advised on Boathouses 3, 4 & 10 as there is still damage to various parts of the docks.

We do urge our tenants located on Boathouses 28, 29 & 34 to please use caution on the concrete walkway as the concrete is broken. We plan to remove and pour new concrete soon after the holiday.

Our Service Department including the travel lift is completely operational

As a reminder, we will still be operating out of the Sales Office until our Main Office is remodeled. We are booked on cabins for this coming weekend but we do have several RV/campsites available. Although we do not take reservations on our RV/campsites we expect to have plenty of availability. Prices for sites vary from $15 to $20 per night.

Poppy’s at the Point will be open this weekend in the Event Center or the “old” Point Restaurant location. Their hours of operation are Friday from 11:30am – 10pm (from 7-10pm there will be a DJ and karaoke), Saturday 11:30am – 12pm (at 8 pm The Johnny Romo band will be playing) and Sunday 11:30am – 10pm. Cedar Mills Marina Resort

Over the past few weeks we have re-installed walkways, re-stored electricity and water to all the docks, re-opened the launch ramp and RV/Camping area as well as the Deluxe Cottages on the airstrip. Brokerage has been re-located to upstairs at the Ships Store.

We plan to have the fuel dock open and be pumping fuel before Labor Day weekend; however, the pump-out station will not be ready by then. (There is a mobile pump out service available on Lake Texoma through Clean Marine 903-361-2727.) The Service yard and travel lift ways are expected to be usable right after the weekend. The Service and Parts Department will be open all Labor Day weekend for your boat service needs 903-523-4222 ext 240.

There is still much to do but the Cedar Mills Crew spirits are high as we see our customers enjoying the lake once again.

Lake level is at 618.74 and falling 2″-3″ per day.

We have not yet heard anything from our insurance company so reconstruction is still on hold. Maybe next week.

We are replacing the RV Park electrical power boxes with new ones. The old ones were too long under the water and rusted very badly. Especially since this is twice counting 2007.

Water and power has been restored to all docks except A, B and C.

When boating in or out of Alberta Creek cove, PLEASE stay to the north side of the cove to avoid colliding with any of the underwater pipe that IS STILL THERE.

Fishing is fair to good on the lake with some days being excellent. Talk to your guide and book your trip.

The LAUNCH RAMP at Alberta Creek is open and usable. No launch fee is required at this time. Please park courteously.

Catfish Bay Marina

Catfish Bay Marina update: We are excited to say we now have the fuel dock back in its original position. However, fuel lines & walkways will be awhile before they will be restored. No walkway or gas at this time. We are working diligently to get things back to normal so that our customers can enjoy what’s left of the summer ending with a great Labor Day weekend on the lake. At this moment we have safe & hazard free walkways back to all our boathouses which also have electricity & water. We want to encourage all boaters to enjoy the lake but as always be safe & alert.

Highport Marina

Highport anticipates having diesel fuel available at the fuel dock by Friday, and will again be able to rent boats and jet skis.

Eisenhower Yacht Club Marina

Mill Creek Resort Marina

Hey folks we have electricity to all boathouses including all of boathouse 8!!!! WOOHOO!! Mill Creek Marina’s Gas Dock is now open for business for unleaded gas and pump outs but no diesel. Tulsa District Corps of Engineers

The amount of water being released from Lake Texoma dropped today to 15,000 cubic feet per second, as lake levels gradually return to normal.

Eisenhower State Park

BURN BAN IN EFFECT.

Since the rain at the first of July, parts of Grayson County to include Eisenhower State Park have seen very little rain. This lack of rainfall combined with hot summer temperatures have dried things out considerably resulting in the need to establish the burn ban.

Eisenhower State Park will NOT be allowing any open flame fires to include burning wood, outdoor torches, etc. The park WILL allow cooking with propane grills with closed lids or charcoal fires in the fire ring. All propane grills will need to be located away from grass and vegetation. Park Police will monitor the situation closely to ensure compliance.

The park will provide updates as conditions change. The safety of our visitors, our neighbors and the natural resources of the park will remain the top priority. Thank you for understanding.

Also, Oncor, our electric service provider, is here accessing the situation and we are expecting to have power back to all boathouses and the Gas Dock by the Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately, none of the walkways are accessible quite yet. Once they have surfaced, we hope to have them repaired as soon as possible. There is a possibility that the following walkways will be usable by next weekend: Boathouses 1, 2, 7, 8, and 12.

HAPPY FRIDAY, it’s a beautiful, hot, sunny day here at the Marina and at this time we are please to announce that the walkways for Boathouses 2, 3, 4, & 5 are now accessible by land! Our Boathouse Crew is currently working on Boathouse 6 to get it back on it’s moorings and off of Boathouse 7. This has been a daunting task; but, with no more substantial rain events in our watershed, it looks like we should have all Boathouses back on their moorings by the middle of next week. Please stay tuned for information on our upcoming Labor Day Party that will be on Saturday, the 5th. We have hired Rocky & The Bullwinkle’s and we are in the planning stage for all the details.

As always we appreciate each and everyone of you, for your concern for us, and for your continued understanding and patience.

Mill Creek Resort and Marina

We are pleased to announce that the walkway to Boathouse #3 has been reset and we are now using this boathouse as the pickup point for shuttle service to the other Boathouses. Also, it looks like the Boat Ramp and the Campgrounds will be open by next weekend, August the 14th! Things are starting to go in the right direction and we are proud of the hard work that our Boathouse Crew has been doing for us, they are working tirelessly setting the rest of the boathouses back on their moorings. We appreciate all of our tenants and their guests for their understanding and patience as we continue to get things back to order.

Never Never Land Charters

Lake levels are coming down and we should be operational by Sept. 1st. Never Never Land will be available for day, evening or night cruises. Most fun is a sunset cruise and then enjoying watching the stars come out. If we’re lucky we’ll even get a chance to watch the International Space Station fly over. Think about planning an adventure with your sweetie, family or even a girls/boys night out.

As the water level drops, anchor pipe is beginning to show back up as seen in these pictures.

Many are asking about repairs, etc. I believe we will have our RV PARK reopened by Labor Day Weekend. Our overnight lodging units are ready to go. The launch ramp should be open within a week. They don’t know if they will repair or replace the damaged docks. In addition to the flood damage the storms brought a tornado thru the resort.

Eisenhower Yacht Club Marina

As of 2 pm today the road to boathouses 12-18 has opened but ONLY boathouses 12 & 14 are reachable by walkway. If you are on boathouse 15-18 you will still need to catch a shuttle ride to your slips until EYC can repair or replace walkways. Please keep in mind that water and electricity still has not been restored to these boathouses.

The Boat Ramp and Fuel Dock are OPEN! (not able to sell fuel yet)

The boat ramp at Highport is officially back open to members and the public. For Highport members, use of the boat ramp is free. There is a $5/day charge for non-members. Please park your trailers in the RV lot or grassy areas only, NOT in the ramp lot.

The fuel dock will also be open this weekend, selling snacks, boat-wear, water, and more, however we are NOT yet able to sell fuel.

ELECTRICITY UPDATE:

We’ve had some questions on electricity this week, so we wanted to provide an update! As the water recedes, we will first address three or four downed telephone poles. then as electrical boxes are exposed, we are evaluating each box, one by one. Repairs and being made and systems recharged as it is safe to do so.

We expect that at least half of the boxes will need full or partial replacement – once we have an estimate on timeframe to complete the replacements or repair, we will let you know.

Eisenhower Yacht Club Marina

Hello boaters! Progress is being made at EYC! Water has been turned on for boathouses 1, 2, 3, and the gas dock! Keep an eye on our Facebook for more updates! More good news from EYC! Along with the gas dock and boathouses 1, 2 & 3 we have also gotten water restored to boathouses 4 & 27-31. The shuttle has also moved from the north side of the office to BOATHO– USE 1. If you have any questions please give us a call at the office and keep an eye out for more updates!

Catfish Bay Marina

Lake is coming down and things are slowly getting back to normal. The Rooster Creek bridge and Texoma Park Road is now open to through traffic. Some of the boathouses are accessible by land.

Be aware of your surroundings when out on the water due to some structures are still submerged and minimal debris floating.

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge

Today is the first step in re-opening the Refuge to the public after 2-1/2 months of flooding! The Visitor Center opens at 7:30 am, Nature Nook at 9 am. Weekend hours – 9 am – 4 pm Saturday and 1 -5 pm Sunday. Come out and see how much of the Refuge is still under water!

Cedar Mills Marina

We are so excited – the entrance into the marina is now open! Cedar Mills Road continues to be underwater so our marina tenants may enter by exiting off of Highway 377 to Sherwood Grocery and come into the marina via Hillcrest and County Road. Parking in the marina is limited. Please utilize the areas in front of the cottages and near the Ships Store for now. Do not block driveways or go around barricades, please.

Power to the following docks has been restored:

North Cove Docks E through J

Power Cove Docks U through X

We are currently working on Middle Cove L through P docks and will try to have it ready by tonight. We anticipate electrical service being restored to Power Cove Docks Q through T sometime next week. We are moving back into the Ships Store and hope to be open and fully operational soon.

The Service and Parts Buildings are now out of the water. Service staff will continue to office out of the Blue Building until repairs are made on their buildings. We will keep you posted and as always, we look forward to seeing you at the Lake!

Mill Creek Resort and Marina

Hey Folks, wanted to let y’all know that we are now picking up shuttle folks behind the shop, please call the office for shuttle service.

Grandpappy Marina

As of 5pm today, the water shuttle/taxi has been relocated to the wedding area due to the structures underwater near the gas dock area. The number for shuttle to pick up or drop off is 903-814-6706.

At this time the lake level is around 632’ and dropping approximately ½’ per day. Very soon many of the walkways will be accessible allowing customers to access their docks without being shuttled. The walkways likely to be accessible first will include Boathouses 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 21, 22, 24, 25 and 26. The walkways to the east side will be some of the last to be accessible as the road to that side will be open at an elevation of 621’. Boathouses 30, 31 and 32 walkway is in need of much repair although it will surface at an elevation of 625’.

We are also working now to restore water to Boathouses 21 through 26, 28 & 29. Please be aware that water pressure may be minimal until we get our second well in service.

As of today, we have also turned on the power to Boathouse 3 and 4. The best case scenario we can give on power being restored is as follows: Boathouses 5, 7, 8, 12 and 13 the first week of August and Boathouses 6, 21 and 22 the second week of August. We do hope to have it restored sooner but this is the best estimation we can provide. As for the power to the east side, Boathouses 14 through 20 will be reconnected when the lake elevation is below 621’.

We are currently working on power and piping at our Gas Dock and hope to have it in operation by the end of August. We were told today that Eisenhower should have their fuel dock open in approximately 10 days. Our travelift will be available to start hauling boats at an elevation of around 625’ and the mechanics are still available to do boat repairs as needed.

7/28/2015

Cedar Bayou Marina

Good Tuesday morning! The lake level is 633.74. We are open for business today. The electric company came out yesterday to assess the power situation and they did not restore our power to the main part of the Marina citing that the water is still too high for them to safely restore power to the boathouses. They will monitor the situation and restore the power when it is safe. Meanwhile, Randy has cleared the debris and fallen trees off of Cedar Bayou Blvd so it is now completely open. Slowly but surely we are getting back to normal.

Have a great day!

7/26/2015

Good News from Cedar Bayou Marina!

The lake level is 634.85. The water taxi is operating from 9 am to 4:30 pm for boathouse S only. All other boathouses are reachable by foot. The water has been turned on to the main part of the marina. We anticipate the power being restored to the rest of the Marina by the first part of the week.

Cedar Mills Marina

Cedar Mills Marina & Resort

Good news – even though Lake Texoma is still 18′ above normal, the water is receding quicker than originally anticipated! The Corps of Engineers is projecting that we will be back to normal by the end of August.

As most of you know, the Cedar Mills Crew has been busy over the last couple of months with cleanup of debris all over the marina. We have made significant progress on the Ships Store and hope to be moving back in shortly. The Landing and the Lodge have just come out of the water and we are in the process of evaluating the buildings and will begin restoration in the very near future.

Currently, the electricity remains off on the docks as well as around the shoreline and at the RV Park; however, we are in the process of inspecting these areas and making necessary repairs in order to get the power back on as soon as possible. As walkways remain inaccessible, we will continue to offer a courtesy shuttle to and from the docks for your convenience.

The entrance into the marina has just come out of the water but remains closed for the time being to prevent further damage. We anticipate being able to open the road sometime next week.

Cedar Bayou Marina

Through very hard work and a some luck, Cedar Bayou made it through the flood with all slips operational! No damages, etc and in fact we have power and water on for ½ of our slips and expect to restore power on for the entire marina very soon! We have a few nice 40-50’ slips with full power and water available at the moment.

7/24/2015

Grandpappy Marina

Although the lake is still 19’ above normal, it is starting to recede and no heavy rain events are currently in the forecast. The lake elevation at 2 pm today is 632.2’. We have been trying to restore power and remove cables as allowed. At this time, we have removed the cables between Boathouse 1 & 2 and between 7 & 8 which will allow clearance for those boaters on the right sides of Boathouse 1 & 7 and the left sides of Boathouses 2 & 8. We are working daily to reset the Boathouses and we will maintain our efforts to remove additional cables to allow access to our boaters.

The power has been restored to Boathouse 1, 23, 24, 25 & 26. Unfortunately, we cannot give an estimate on electricity for the other Boathouses as we may discover issues with the power as the water recedes. However, as a general rule, the last Boathouses to be turned off will be the first to be turned back on. We will continue to clean and repair the electrical as the water goes down and will request that Oncor, our electric provider, restore the power as soon as possible.

We hope to be back to a normal lake level by the end of August though many repairs will be needed and weather may become a factor. As always, we continue to run shuttle for our customers until walkways are repaired and accessible. Our cabins, RV/Camping park and boat ramp remain open and we are still able to do mechanical repairs. We have removed a lot of debris within the marina but we advise caution of underwater structures and trees near shorelines if you are headed out to the lake for a day of fun.

Cedar Mills Marina

The Ships Store is coming along! The carpenters, electricians and painters are making her a beautiful sight to see; they are also busy on the Yacht Club. The water has receded from the top of the road however it is still going to have to dry under it and be inspected before we will be able to drive into the marina. We are all hoping that is real soon!!!

Q: Concerning lake Texoma, as conditions improve downstream, do you have plans to increase outflow to bring lake back down closer to normal levels?

A: Tulsa District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hi Rickey, thanks for your question. We are working, and will continue to work, to bring lake levels down to Congressionally approved levels. Releases will be based upon a number of factors.

LAKE LEVELS

Levels rose a bit last weekend – as of today we’re at 639.05. We’re very much looking forward to the forecasted stretch of hot, dry weather for the next 10 days!

ELECTRICITY

We will be able to begin looking at the condition of the electricity to our docks when the lake level gets to about 632. Once we have the opportunity to look at the damage caused by the high water, we will let you know.

FUEL DOCK

We’ll be able to turn fuel tanks back on once the water level goes below the on/off valves and the fuel is tested and any contaminants removed.

We’d like to encourage you to visit the marina and see for yourself how many of our marina customers are continuing to enjoy the lake this summer, and visit us at the High Water Café!

Every weekend, we see more and more boats on the water. And remember, our boat ramp is open to our members who are familiar with the parking lot and ramp area. Come enjoy this great summer weather with us, we’d love to see you all at the lake!

Lake Conditions Update

Lake levels today are at 639.22′ which remains 22′ above normal elevation. The lake has only dropped by about 7 ½’ since it crested on June 1st, 2015 with a record elevation of 645.66′. Due to the unpredictability of future weather conditions and lake release, we do not have a prediction of how quickly the lake will recede. The latest release from the Corp of Engineers states that it will still be at 639′ on July 17th. We will continue to monitor the levels and provide updates as we receive them. The main marina road remains accessible and our Cabins, RV Park and boat ramp remain open. As of yesterday July 14th, the power was restored to Boathouse 1 only. Unfortunately, without knowing what damage we may experience with underwater structures as the lake goes down we are unable to provide an elevation at which the electricity and water will be restored to each of the Boathouses. At this time, there has been no change in the cabling of the Boathouses but we are continuing our efforts to patrol the harbor and secure the docks, boats and other property. Our water shuttle remains operable from the bank of the gas dock and the number to call for shuttle is 903-814-6706. We apologize that there is not many changes to report and that this has severely impaired your boating season. We will do our best to restore services as soon as possible.

Video by William Fri “Lake Texoma Flood 2015”

“I wanted to video capture the worst flooding Lake Texoma has experienced since it was completed in the mid 1940s. Lake Texoma is a US Army Corps of Engineers flood control lake in north Texas formed by Denison Dam on the Red River. At the time of the video, water was flowing 3′ deep over the spillway and the floodgates were releasing 65,000+ cubic feet/second.”

The entrance into the marina is now accessible but the county road leading into the marina was washed out during Sunday morning’s heavy rains. The county has started the repairs to the road with hopes of having it completed no later than the middle of next week. At this time, we plan to have our cabins, campgrounds/RV park and boat ramp available for the holiday weekend. Unfortunately, our Restaurant and Fuel Dock will not be operational and the electricity and water remains off on every Boathouse within the marina.

We still have Cabins & RV sites available for the Fourth of July Weekend and at this time we are offering 25% off on all Cabins from July 2nd through July 6th with no minimum stay requirements. Unfortunately our Fuel Dock, Restaurant, Campsites, Boat Ramp and Temporary Slips are still not available and all electricity is still currently off on all Boathouses.

The weekend is upon us, and we are busy trying to prepare the marina for the holiday weekend next weekend. To that end, we are in the process of moving our High Water Café kitchen into a mobile unit. Because of this transition, the café will NOT be open this weekend.

Additionally the Fuel Dock remains closed for this weekend – we do hope to have it open with fuel services available by next weekend, too.

The Water Taxi is now available 24/7 – please remember to have life jackets for the kids to save time this weekend!

Keep in mind that our maintenance team is still working on pilings in the marina, particularly in the areas of both N Docks as well as F and G Docks. For your safety, please stay well away from areas where the barge and crane are working.

Good morning, Folks! It is a beautiful day at the lake today and at this posting the lake level is 642.57 and falling. We are still in recovery mode from the storm that blew through here on Sunday and we are in the process of shoring up all the boathouses that came loose trying to get ready for the next storm that is predicted to move in this evening. Once this storm passes and we are able to access any further damage, we are hoping to resume shuttle service by Tuesday June 30th. Thank you for your continued patience and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Cedar Bayou Marina

The lake level is 642.62. The water taxi is running from 9 am to 5 pm weather permitting. We are expecting some rain and possible severe thunderstorms to roll in this evening and into Saturday morning. This will bring a drop in the temperature to a much more comfortable 80 degree range. Have a great and safe weekend

Good Thursday morning. The lake level is 643.45 and slowly dropping. We have rain in the prediction for Friday into Saturday as a cool front approaches our area. It will be great to get some relief from this heat. Keep safe and hydrated

Grandpappy Marina – Main road into marina has major damage. When the waters began to recede, Grandpappy Marina discovered a portion of the main road leading into the marina had washed away, leaving a gaping hole.

Mill Creek Resort Marina

At this posting the current lake level is 644.31 and falling at a rate of about a foot a day. The storm that came through here on Sunday really did not help our situation very much. We had a few boathouses get loose but we were able to save everything and all are currently cabled together. With that being said, we have cancelled all shuttle service at this time until further notice as it is currently unsafe due to all the cables running through the marina and we have had to put all focus on keeping boathouses and tenants property safe. We ask for your continued patience during this time as we are still all hands on deck. Thanks!

Cedar Bayou Marina

The lake level at 10 am was 643.89. The last time the lake went 5 feet over the spillway it took us 9 days to get below 640. This has been one crazy flood.

The water taxi is operating from 9 am to 5 pm today. Those guys are working so hard in this heat using a sledge hammer and blow torches and welding also. Trey has become a really good welder!

I watched Randy swing that sledge hammer so long and hard that it almost made me cry. Now they are starting all over again banging on the same anchor poles they slaved over since this all began around May 1.
I just pray they will all be safe and have the strength and stamina to finish saving our Marina.

Well Hurricane Bill gave us an early Father’s Day gift, we are having to close again. WE WILL BE CLOSING AT 2PM TODAY. We are unsure when we will reopen.

Roosevelt Bridge Closed

Cedar Mills Marina
Due to the amount of rain that Tropical Storm Bill has brought to the area, the Corps of Engineers has forecasted the lake level to reach 645.70 feet by June 21st. The current lake level is 643.39 and the accumulative release of water from power generation, flood conduits and spillway is 109,035 cfs.
The rising water has gone back into the Main Office as well as other previously cleaned buildings. We have spent many hours clearing the shoreline and had even started repairs in some buildings – all in attempts to get the marina back to normal.

We continue to work on docks and breakwaters to maintain their integrity. Although visiting the marina is discouraged, should you feel it necessary to check your property, we will continue to offer complimentary shuttle service for as long as it is safe to do so. Roads are inaccessible at this time.

As always, we appreciate your support and patience and we will keep you updated.

Grandpappy Marina

The Corp of Engineers just released an update and the current prediction is that the lake will crest on Sunday, June 21st at a new record elevation of 645.7′. Reminder from our previous post: to secure the the boathouses, we have cabled them together and will be unable to remove the cables until the water recedes several feet. This will mostly affect our sailboat tenants. The Restaurant is closed until further notice and due to the rising water, the entry road will become inaccessible potentially by tomorrow morning. Therefore, our boat ramp, cabins & RV/campgrounds will be inaccessible as well. Although we discourage our tenants from coming to the lake during the next several days, we will continue shuttling from the bank of the gas dock, the wedding area or from the east side once the entrance road is closed. At this time please continue to call the security phone at 903-814-6706 for shuttle purposes. It is almost a certainty that we will lose our main phone lines, however, we encourage you to direct any questions to the main office until the phones become inoperable. Once this happens, we will have only minimal staff on site so our only forms of communication will be the security phone, email @ info@grandpappy.com and social media. We truly appreciate your understanding.

Highport Marina

Due to the rising water, we’ve had to cut the power to the Fuel Dock and unfortunately it will not open this weekend as we had originally planned. However, we DO have water available at the courtesy dock with four water hoses for filling water tanks and rinsing your boats. The High Water Cafe (on the porch of “Big Blue”) is serving breakfast beginning at 8 am and $5 burgers. The latest projections are showing that the lake might crest on Sunday – if we do have another power loss in the administration building, we will have to close the high water café until power is restored.

Our boat launch is also still accessible though we advise to use it with caution & one at a time (back down the road to use it). Due to the high heat, high humidity, & lack of A/C, Poppy’s will not be open in the pavilion until further notice is given. The water shuttle/water taxi that we have been using to shuttle customers is now back at the bank of the Gas Dock. Attention is beginning to focus on a tropical system in the western Gulf of Mexico which will likely move into the Texas coast and then head north into Oklahoma by mid-week. Heavy rainfall is should be seen along and east of whatever track the system takes. The 7-day Quantitative Precipitation Forecasts (QPC) from the National Weather Service indicates rainfall amounts of 7 to 8 inches along the path. The most recent update shows the system running along the Oklahoma/ Arkansas border.

Good morning everyone! The lake level is 645.41. The inflow is 84,354. The outflow is 136,235. The water taxi service for Marina tenants will be from 9 am to 5 pm today.
Please keep in mind that as the lake level drops we still have even more work to do to maintain the safety and structure of our Marina. We will not be able to asses power restoration to our Marina until the lake level gets below 635. We feel we are about 30 days away from that level depending upon any rain received in the watershed and depending upon the rate of water release from the Corp of Engineers.

Cedar Mills Marina Resort 6-2-2015

The water is about halfway up the airstrip. We cannot wait for the water to recede and the airstrip to be reopened so pilots can visit us again. All boat docks seem to be fairing well!

Good morning everyone! It is raining this morning at Cedar Bayou Marina so we are not operating the water taxi this morning. Sorry! We may be able to operate the water taxi this afternoon if the rain stops. As of 8 am this morning, the lake level was 645.38. The inflow was 155,775 CFS and the outflow was 134,000 CFS. The guys have been diligently keeping our marina safely in place during this historic flood. They will continue to keep adding anchor pole extensions as needed. The good news is that we have NO RAIN in the next 7 day forecast. Bring on the sunshine!
All our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is suffering during this flood.
A reminder to everyone at the marina. All of the walkways leading to all of the boathouses are under water. The boat ramp is under water. About 85 % of Cedar Bayou Blvd is under water in the marina area. Some of the marina tenants are reaching their boats using kayaks, canoes and other floatables. Be safe! Wear your life jacket! Watch out for snakes! Layne and I did not see any snakes on our hike yesterday, but Trey and Randy have seen a lot of snakes during their daily trips out to work on the boat docks. I have personally encountered one snake at Cabin F and lots of mosquitos and chiggers and ticks! Please exercise caution and apply bug repellant
